Dr. Upender Subramanian is a Professor of Marketing at the Naveen Jindal School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas. He holds a PhD in Marketing from the Wharton School (2009), an MBA from IIM Bangalore (2000), and a BTech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Madras (1998). His academic career spans over 14 years at UTD, progressing from Assistant Professor (2009–2016) to Associate Professor (2016–2022), and currently as a full Professor. Prior to academia, he worked in marketing roles at Sasken Communications and Analog Devices in India.
His research focuses on Competitive Strategies, Distribution Channels, Online Platforms, and Trust Dynamics, employing Game Theory and Behavioral Economics methodologies. Key contributions include studies on daily deal websites (e.g., Groupon), trust mechanisms in supply chains, and pricing strategies in on-demand economies.
