Ulrich Sieberer is a Professor of Empirical Political Science and Director of the Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences (BAGSS) at the University of Bamberg. He previously held positions at the Universities of Konstanz and Mannheim, and served as a visiting professor at the University of Vienna. His research focuses on institutional change in parliaments and governments, political parties, legislative studies, coalition research, and judicial politics. He authored a monograph, Parliaments as Electoral Bodies, and has published extensively in leading journals like the British Journal of Political Science and European Journal of Political Research.
As Director of BAGSS since 2020, he oversees graduate studies in social sciences. He is also Deputy Head of the Department of Political Science and Deputy Ombudsperson at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi). His research projects include studies on parliamentary voting behavior, portfolio design in coalition governments, and legislative agenda-setting in European parliaments.
Key awards include the Best JLS Paper of the Past 20 Years Award (2015) and a Fritz-Thyssen Prize nomination (2009). His work bridges comparative politics with institutional analysis, emphasizing parliamentary dynamics and political competition.
