About
Ulrich Rant is a Carl von Linde Junior Fellow at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the founder/CEO of Dynamic Biosensors GmbH. His research focuses on Functional DNA Systems, biosensors, and plasmonic properties of metalized DNA. He holds a Ph.D. in physics from TUM (2005), for which he received the university’s top thesis award.
After completing his Ph.D., Rant served as a Post-Doc at TUM’s Walter Schottky Institute and coordinated a biosensor collaboration project with Fujitsu Laboratories (2005–2006). He later worked as a visiting researcher at Fujitsu in Japan (2006). His work integrates physics, nanotechnology, and biotechnology to advance biosensor technology and solid-state nanopore applications.
- Education: B.Sc./M.Sc. in Physics (Technical University of Graz, 1993–2000), Ph.D. in Physics (TUM, 2005).
- Research Highlights: Development of electrically switchable DNA interfaces, plasmonic DNA systems, and nanopore-based protein sensors.
- Awards: Includes the Young Researcher Award in Nanotechnology (Styria, 2005) and BMBF start-up funding (2011–2013).
Rant’s contributions span academic and industrial realms, with a focus on translating nanotechnology research into practical biosensor applications.
