Tze-Woei Tan

Dr. Tze-Woei Tan is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, where he directs the Limb Salvage Research Program. He holds an MD from the University of Melbourne, completed residency at Brown University, vascular surgery fellowship at Boston University, and an MPH from the University of Arizona. His NIH-supported research focuses on reducing amputations in peripheral artery disease and diabetes through innovative interventions.

Research explores health disparities, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and diabetic vascular complications. Recent work investigates telemedicine applications in acute care, frailty assessment in surgical outcomes, and racial disparities in amputation recovery. Articles consistently address integrated care models for complex vascular conditions and diabetic foot ulcer prevention.

Honors include the Roger E. Pecoraro Award from the American Diabetes Association (2023) and the Keck Faculty Teaching Award (2024). Leads NIH-funded projects on limb preservation and mentors trainees in clinical research methodologies.

Directs the Limb Salvage Research Lab, collaborating with podiatry, endocrinology, and health policy experts to develop multidisciplinary care pathways for high-risk populations.
