About
Tyler Starr is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Utah. He focuses on molecular evolution at the host-virus interface, particularly studying protein-protein interactions in SARS-CoV-2, HIV, and zoonotic viruses.
- B.A., Willamette University
- Ph.D., University of Chicago
His research combines evolutionary biology, biochemistry, and virology to analyze how amino acid mutations affect viral function and immune evasion. Recent work includes deep mutational scanning of SARS-CoV-2 variants and development of broadly neutralizing antibodies.
Selected publications highlight expertise in protein evolution, antibody escape, and vaccine design. He maintains active collaborations in computational biology and structural virology.
