Tyler McCreary is an Adjunct Professor in the First Nations Studies program at the University of Northern British Columbia and an Associate Professor of Geography at Florida State University (FSU). At FSU, he is affiliated with the Native American and Indigenous Studies Center, the African American Studies Program, and the Honors Program. His research explores the intersections of settler colonialism, racial capitalism, and governance systems in North America.
- Research Interests: His work investigates how environmental governance processes engage with Indigenous concerns, the impact of Indigenous territorial claims on resource-sector labor markets, and the reproduction of historic marginalization of Indigenous families through urban and regional governance.

- Prince George Library Jeanne Clarke Award for regional history
- Publications: He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, as well as four books, including the award-winning Shared Histories: Witsuwit'en-Settler Relations in Smithers, British Columbia, 1913-1973 (Creekstone Press, 2018), and the forthcoming Indigenous Legalities, Pipeline Viscosities: Colonial Extractivism and Wet’suwet’en Resistance (University of Alberta Press, 2024).
