Tyler Hendrickson

Tyler Hendrickson is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Viola at the School of Music of the University of Northern Iowa. Appointed in 2022, he focuses on music pedagogy and performance, emphasizing neglected works in the classical tradition. His expertise includes viola instruction and chamber music collaboration.

Hendrickson champions underrepresented composers and has premiered works like John Blackwood McEwen's Viola Sonata. He collaborates with the Rachel Barton Pine Foundation to develop a graded curriculum highlighting marginalized voices in viola music. As a chamber musician, he co-founded the Spiritoso String Quartet and performs with the Franziska Trio (clarinet, viola, piano).
