Tyler Cook

Tyler Cook is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, OK. He earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Missouri (2009-2015) and a B.S. in Mathematics and Statistics from the same institution (2004-2009). His dissertation focused on model evaluation and variable selection for interval-censored failure time data.

His research interests include statistical methodologies, survival analysis, data mining techniques, machine learning applications, data visualization approaches, and web scraping technologies. His blog posts demonstrate applied research in areas like sports analytics (World Cup goal patterns), metabolomic data analysis using random forests, and natural language processing of song lyrics.

Dr. Cook teaches various statistics courses including Introduction to Statistics for the Sciences, Statistical Methods, Mathematical Statistics, Computer Applications in Statistics, and Data Mining & Machine Learning. His office is located in STEM 240 at the University of Central Oklahoma.
