About
Twan Lammers is a full Professor of Medicine at the Institute for Experimental Molecular Imaging (ExMI) within RWTH Aachen University Clinic. He leads the Nanomedicine and Theranostics research group focused on developing image-guided drug delivery systems for cancer and fibrotic diseases.
Research Focus: His work centers on nanomedicine tumor targeting, combining drug delivery with molecular imaging to monitor tumor growth, angiogenesis, inflammation, and metastasis. Key areas include engineering polymeric microbubbles for ultrasound-mediated drug delivery, optimizing nanoparticle biodistribution using EPR and ATR mechanisms, and developing clinical translation frameworks for nanotherapeutics. His group pioneered transferrin receptor-targeted microbubbles for blood-brain barrier sonopermeation and desmoplastic tumor priming strategies using corticosteroid liposomes.
