Truptesh H. Kothari

Dr. Truptesh H. Kothari serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology within the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He is a core faculty member of the University of Rochester Medical Faculty Group (URMFG) and participates in Accountable Health Partners (AHP), a regional network of over 2,000 providers. His clinical practice spans three key locations:

As director of the Bariatric Endoscopy Program at Strong Memorial Hospital, he performs intragastric balloon placements and endoscopic outlet reduction for gastric bypass revisions. His research focuses on pancreatic-biliary disorders, fistula closure techniques, per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), and medical device innovation to improve endoscopic outcomes.

Through the Bariatric Endoscopy Program, Dr. Kothari directs a specialized team performing minimally invasive weight loss procedures and developing novel endoscopic techniques for metabolic surgery revisions, establishing Strong Memorial Hospital as a regional center for advanced endoscopic bariatric interventions.
