Dr. Troy Sternberg is a British Academy Post-doctoral Research Fellow in the School of Geography at the University of Oxford. His work centers on the Gobi Desert, examining the interplay between natural hazards, climate, and human societies in northern China and southern Mongolia.
Education: He earned his Doctorate in Philosophy (D.Phil) from the University of Oxford.
Research Interests: Dr. Sternberg's research spans natural hazards (including drought and dzud), climate change impacts, desertification, dryland environments, pastoral livelihoods, and environmental security. He has also investigated urban ecology, particularly the role of ivy in mitigating air pollution by absorbing particulates.
