Trishula R. Patel is an Assistant Professor of African/African diaspora history at the University of Denver's College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, with affiliations in the History and Asian Studies departments. She holds a PhD in African History from Georgetown University (2021), alongside degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University.
Her research focuses on African legal/social/cultural history, South Asian diaspora dynamics, and postcolonial identities. Notable works include studies on Indian communities in Zimbabwe, Gandhi’s global legacy, and cricket’s cultural role in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe. Her current book project examines the South Asian diaspora in Zimbabwe.
Teaching areas span precolonial/modern African history, legal frameworks, migration, and oral history methodologies in the Global South. She is affiliated with the African Studies Association and American Historical Association.
