Trent S. Newmeyer is Associate Professor cross-appointed to Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies, and serves as Graduate Program Director for Social Justice and Equity Studies at Brock University's Faculty of Social Sciences.
His teaching focuses on sociology of leisure, qualitative research methods, and the sociocultural dimensions of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Research interests encompass the social history of tourism, craft-as-politics, and HIV/AIDS-related topics including pregnancy planning and stigma reduction through body mapping.
Publications analyze neoliberal governance in community spaces, experiential tourism, family well-being during care transitions, and reproductive pressures on HIV-positive women.
