Tracy Tinga

Tracy Tinga is an Assistant Professor in the Media & Communication Studies Department at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). She earned her Ph.D. in Media and Communication from the Lew Klein College of Media & Communication at Temple University.

Her research investigates the representation of African countries in transnational institutions like media, corporations, and development organizations, analyzing the "Africa Rising" discourse within the context of neoliberal policies, postcolonial identity, and international development. She also examines communication for development and social change (CDSC), focusing on how communities leverage local networks to address climate change and health challenges.
