Dr. Tracy Smith is an Associate Professor in the Addiction Sciences Division of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She serves as Co-Leader of the Cancer Prevention and Control Program at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center. Dr. Smith collaborates with Dr. Matthew Carpenter as co-leader of Team IMPACT, a multi-PI laboratory focused on improving tobacco cessation methods.
Dr. Smith’s research centers on tobacco regulatory science to inform FDA policies. Key areas include nicotine reduction in cigarettes, menthol regulation, and evaluating e-cigarettes as harm reduction tools.
