About
Tracy Morgan serves as the Program Coordinator and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) for the Federally Recognized Tribal Extension Program (FRTEP) on the Kalispel Reservation at Washington State University. Based in the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS), their work bridges academic research with community-driven initiatives focused on Indigenous culture revitalization and tribal development.
Research interests include food sovereignty, youth development through 4-H programs, natural resource management emphasizing native plants, and the integration of Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) into modern practices. The Kalispel Tribe actively collaborates in all program components to ensure cultural relevance and language preservation.
As Co-PI, Tracy contributes to the grant’s mission alongside PI Dr. Nancy Deringer, addressing tribal priorities in agriculture, environmental stewardship, and family well-being. The program operates in a remote, mountainous region, addressing unique challenges through community-based solutions.
