Tracy Finch

Professor Tracy Finch is a leading academic in Healthcare & Implementation Science at Northumbria University, with a focus on Normalization Process Theory (NPT) and implementation toolkits. She holds a PhD in Health Psychology from Deakin University (1999) and has held academic appointments at Manchester University and Newcastle University.

• Current projects: IDEAS (NIHR, 2025-2030), PHORM (Royal Osteoporosis Society, 2023-2025), REFUEL-MS (NIHR, 2022-2027).
• Completed work includes the ImpleMentAll project (EU H2020) and NoMAD (ESRC), producing widely used implementation tools.

Her research spans fatigue management in chronic conditions, self-management support in stroke and cancer care, and pragmatic implementation metrics. She supervises PhD students including Dara Roisin Fallen Bailey and Ioulia Barakou. Awards include the NIHR Senior Clinical Academic Fellowship, with expertise in process evaluation methodology and stakeholder engagement models like I-STEM.
