Tracy Cosgriff is an Associate Professor of Art and Art History, and Middle Eastern & North African Studies at The College of Wooster. She holds a Ph.D. in the History of Art and Architecture from the University of Virginia (2016), an M.A. from UVA (2012), and a B.A. in Classics and Art History from UC Davis (2008), where she was named 2009 University Medalist. Her research focuses on the Italian Renaissance, particularly Raphael’s engagement with classical traditions and papal patronage. She has held prestigious fellowships, including a Fulbright Scholarship and membership in the Society of Fellows at UVa.
Her teaching spans early modern global art, emphasizing object-based study and interdisciplinary learning. Courses include Islamic Art, Baroque Art, and the History of Prints. Current research projects include a book on Raphael’s Vatican frescoes in relation to Julius II’s manuscript collection and explorations of Horace and Dante’s visual legacies.
Publications include articles in I Tatti Studies and Renaissance Quarterly, and an edited volume on Raphael’s Vatican Stanze. Awards include recognition for academic excellence and scholarly contributions to Renaissance studies.
