About
Tracey J. Lamb, PhD, is a Professor at the University of Utah Department of Pathology, leading the Lamb Host-Pathogen Interactions Lab. Her research focuses on malaria immunopathogenesis, Eph receptor signaling, and host-pathogen interactions using mouse models and fieldwork in Cameroon with collaborations at Centre Pasteur Cameroon and Emory University.
Her work investigates mechanisms of blood-brain barrier breakdown in cerebral malaria, organ-specific pathologies mediated by Eph receptors, thrombocytopenia in malaria, and asymptomatic Plasmodium carriage. Recent studies highlight the role of low-affinity T cells in blood-brain barrier breakdown and oral vaccine delivery via probiotic yeast.
Key themes in her publications include Plasmodium-host dynamics, co-infection impacts (e.g., Epstein-Barr Virus), and platelet contributions to malaria severity. She mentors undergraduate researchers Erin Garzella and Andelin Beishline and collaborates with programs in Molecular Biology, Neurosciences, and Infectious Diseases.
