Tracey German is a Professor of Conflict and Security in the Defence Studies Department at King’s College London and a Senior Associate Fellow at RUSI. Her research focuses on Russian foreign and security policies, including its use of force in the post-Soviet era, strategic culture, and regional conflicts in the Caucasus and Caspian regions. She speaks Russian and has conducted extensive fieldwork across former Soviet states.
German’s work analyzes Russian responses to Western military actions and evolving conflict dynamics. She has published widely on NATO-Russia relations, energy security, and the implications of geopolitical shifts in Eastern Europe. Her recent research explores Russia’s adaptation to modern warfare and the impact of Ukraine’s conflict on regional stability.
