Tore Markeset

Tore Markeset is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering specializing in operations and maintenance engineering at the University of Stavanger. He has held roles as Head of the Department of Safety, Economics and Planning and served as an adjunct Professor at the Arctic University of Norway (UiT, Tromsø). His research focuses on industrial asset management, condition monitoring, and lifecycle costing. Markeset holds a BSc in Petroleum Engineering (1985) and dual BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering (1989/1991) from the University of Minnesota. He earned his PhD in offshore technology from the University of Stavanger in 2003.

His work emphasizes operational risk assessment, maintenance optimization, and Arctic operational challenges. He has authored over 150 publications (h-index: 23/Scopus 20), supervised 15 PhD students, and contributed to advancing asset management frameworks in offshore and energy sectors.
