Torben K Becker

Dr. Torben K Becker is an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He serves as Chief of Service of Emergency Medicine for UF Health Shands, Vice-Chair & Chief of Critical Care Medicine, and Executive Director (Emergency Medicine) of the UF Health Critical Care Organization. He holds affiliate appointments in Anesthesiology, Environmental & Global Health, and the UF Center for African Studies.

• Residency in Emergency Medicine and Ultrasound at University of Michigan
• Fellowships in Critical Care, ECMO, and EMS at University of Pittsburgh and Florida
• MBA from University of Tennessee – Knoxville

Dr. Becker’s research focuses on cardiac arrest, global health, and handheld ultrasound applications. His work addresses resuscitation techniques, telemedicine in resource-limited settings, and critical care organization structures.

His recent publications highlight innovations in extracorporeal CPR, pediatric telemedicine, and ECMO configurations. His research spans clinical trials, systematic reviews, and implementation studies in low-income regions.
