Tonya Johnson

Tonya Johnson is an Instructor and MPH Internship Coordinator at Oregon State University's School of Nutrition and Public Health within the College of Health. With nearly 25 years of experience in community health, she previously served as a Family and Community Health faculty member with OSU Extension Service in Marion and Polk counties, precepting over 50 interns. Her current role focuses on managing MPH internship operations, connecting students with real-world public health experiences, and fostering community partnerships.

Johnson holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. Her work emphasizes applying public health principles in community settings, bridging academic theory with practical challenges. She is particularly noted for her leadership during the pandemic, ensuring 100% of planned spring 2020 MPH internships were successfully executed through collaborative efforts with partners.

Her professional pride lies in supporting students' career trajectories through immersive internships and advancing health equity through community-engaged initiatives. Johnson is actively involved with OSU’s Extension Service and maintains ties to national profiles like Semantic Scholar and Dimensions.
