Associate Professor Tony Phillips is a Casual Academic in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Flinders University. He serves as Head of Contact Lens teaching at Flinders and also heads the Medical Contact Lens Units at both the Flinders Medical Centre and the Adelaide Women's and Children's Hospitals.
Tony Phillips graduated from The City University, London. His research interests focus on optometry, contact lenses, corneal physiology, and ocular anatomy. He has conducted research into micro ocular anatomy and reaction times with amber night driving spectacles. His work spans clinical optometry, genetic studies of corneal disorders, and the medical applications of contact lenses.
His publications demonstrate a clear trend toward understanding the genetic basis of keratoconus and corneal disorders, while also maintaining clinical research in contact lens applications and patient care. The research spans from fundamental clinical comparisons of lens materials to advanced genetic association studies.

He has also contributed to other optometric textbooks. His leadership extends to heading Medical Contact Lens Units at major hospitals, demonstrating strong clinical and academic integration.
