Tony Nance

Tony Nance is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at The Ohio State University and serves as Deputy Director of the Mathematical Biosciences Institute (MBI). His current responsibilities include guiding MBI postdoctoral researchers in professional development and managing the MBI Summer REU Program and Capstone Conference.

He holds a PhD in Mathematics from The Ohio State University (1997). His research bridges graph theory, algebra, and biological systems, with specific focus on epidemiological modeling. Recent work encompasses individual-based network analysis of heavy drinking transmission and identifiability frameworks for SIR-type epidemic models.

Dr. Nance maintains extensive service commitments: co-founding Calculus Remote at OSU (CROSU), establishing the Mathematics and Statistics Learning Center (MSLC) as its inaugural Director, serving on OSU's Postdoctoral Advisory Council, contributing to Rose-Hulman's Biomathematics Curriculum Board, and participating in global initiatives including the Museum of Math's MOVES conferences and Mathematics of Planet Earth committees.
