Tony Faber

Tony Faber serves as Professor and Interim Chair in the Department of Psychology & Counseling within Southeast Missouri State University's College of Education, Health and Human Studies. With over 19 years of institutional service, he coordinates the Trauma and Resiliency Studies Graduate Certificate program and maintains active clinical licensure.

His educational background includes a PhD and MS in Child and Family Studies with Marriage and Family Therapy specialization from Purdue University, and a BA in Psychology from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale.

Dr. Faber's research examines autism spectrum disorder in educational contexts, trauma-informed care frameworks, and romantic relationship competence development. His work bridges clinical practice with educational psychology through empirical studies on academic motivation barriers for neurodiverse students and assessment tool development for interpersonal competence.

Recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on neurodiverse student experiences across educational transitions, with methodological emphasis on qualitative exploration of student-perceived obstacles and success strategies. His scholarship advances inclusive practices in both K-12 and higher education settings.

His teaching excellence has been recognized through:

As an educator, Dr. Faber teaches Professional Ethics, Trauma-Informed Care, and Advanced Trauma Studies while advising graduate students in trauma certification programs. His clinical work includes Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist status (MO #2008002561) and Certified Family Life Educator credentials.

He contributes to professional communities through National Council on Family Relations membership and governance of the Community Counseling Center, integrating academic expertise with community mental health service delivery.
