Dr. Toni Hail is an Assistant Professor at the NSU School of Social Work since 2009. As a member of the Chickasaw Nation, her work focuses on foster care alumni transitions and Native American families within child welfare systems. She holds a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University, an M.S.W. from the University of Oklahoma, and a B.S.W. from Northeastern State University. Dr. Hail maintains dual roles as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), combining clinical practice with academic responsibilities.
Her research emphasizes systemic barriers faced by foster care alumni in higher education and culturally responsive social work practices for Indigenous communities. She coordinates the NCWWI Child Welfare Specialization program and leads Risforthursday, a statewide initiative supporting foster care alumni on college campuses. Dr. Hail also serves as faculty sponsor for the Northeastern State University Student Social Work Association.
Her recent publications (2018-2024) address online social work education effectiveness, legislative impacts on foster care support systems, and long-term outcomes for alumni. These works reflect her commitment to bridging clinical practice, policy advocacy, and educational access.
