Tommy Ahlgren

Tommy Ahlgren is a University Lecturer at the Department of Physics, University of Helsinki, and holds the title of Docent in the same department. He is a supervisor for the Doctoral Programme in Materials Research and Nanosciences. His research focuses on fusion materials science, plasma-material interactions, and multi-scale modelling, with a particular emphasis on hydrogen isotopes and their behavior in advanced materials like tungsten and high-entropy alloys. Ahlgren is also involved in international collaboration projects, including studies on ITER and JET tokamak experiments.

His research interests span physical sciences, including diffusion mechanisms, ion beam analysis (such as Rutherford backscattering and nuclear reaction analysis), and the development of fusion reactor materials. Ahlgren contributes to projects like the Materials- and Nanophysics Researcher Community (MATENA), emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration.
