Tomaž Curk

Assoc. Prof. Tomaž Curk is an Associate Professor and Vice-Dean at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science (UL FRI), University of Ljubljana. His research focuses on applying machine learning and bioinformatics to analyze large biological datasets, particularly in neurodegenerative diseases and systems biology. He teaches courses such as Introduction to Bioinformatics, Data Mining, and Bioinformatics Algorithms.

He is a member of the Bioinformatics Laboratory and leads multiple research projects funded by ARRS (Slovenian Research Agency), EU, and structural funds. Notable projects include investigating RNA roles in liver cancer, posttranscriptional regulatory networks in neurodegenerative diseases, and applications of machine learning in systems biology. His work spans computational approaches to genomics, drug discovery, and combating antibiotic resistance.

Prof. Curk’s office is located in room R3.08, and he holds office hours on Thursdays at 13:15 via Zoom or in person. His research integrates interdisciplinary methods, emphasizing data fusion and high-throughput genomic analysis.
