Tomasz Drewicz

Dr. Tomasz Drewicz is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and curator affiliated with the University of Arts in Poznań as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Sculpture. His work spans installations, objects, and socio-educational projects, emphasizing the interplay between smart materials (e.g., ferrofluids, thermochromic paint) and contemporary artistic practices. He integrates traditional sculpture techniques with digital technologies, exploring themes of transformation, balance, and the universalization of individual behaviors.

• Education: B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Poznań University of Technology (2005), M.Sc. in Art Education and Sculpture from University of Arts in Poznań (2009), Doctor of Arts (2014).

His artistic research focuses on the materiality of smart substances and their capacity to generate multi-layered narratives. Recent exhibitions like Tie-Break (Gorzów Wielkopolski) and Break Point (Olsztyn) analyze socio-political tensions through sculptural forms. He has coordinated projects such as Odwiedziny (Mediations Biennale) and Structures of Culture, blending art education with cross-disciplinary engagement.

Notable awards include the Rector's Award (2013), Artistic Scholarship of Poznań (2011), and the Young Poland Scholarship (2010). His publications include Give me some substance (2016) and ARTificial – Artificial Art Space (2011).
