Tomaso Maria Lucchelli

Tomaso Maria Lucchelli is an Associate Professor of Ancient and Medieval Numismatics in the Department of Humanities at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. He holds a Laurea cum laude in Roman History from the University of Milan (1995) and has conducted research at Cambridge University and the University of Bonn. His expertise focuses on Greek and Roman coinage, ancient economic history, and numismatic evidence from archaeological contexts.

Research interests include Roman provincial coinage, monetary economy in antiquity, and historical processes reconstructed through coinage. He contributes to editorial boards of journals like the Rivista Italiana di Numismatica and serves as a reviewer for Italian and European research projects. He has participated in projects such as #EtiamEgo (MUR-funded study on violence against women in ancient Rome) and Aut oppressi serviunt (Spanish-funded research on Roman intervention in indigenous communities).

Teaching responsibilities include courses on Ancient and Medieval Numismatics since 2004. He is affiliated with the Research Institute for Digital and Cultural Heritage. Professional roles include membership in the Italian Numismatic Society and the Italian Association of Classical Culture.
