Tom Stefaniuk is an Associate Professor of German and Program Coordinator in the Department of Language & Literature at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), located in Fort Myers, FL. He holds a Ph.D. in German Language and Literature from The Ohio State University (2012), along with degrees from Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and Miami University of Ohio.
His research focuses on German-American cultural history, 19th-20th century German literature, and transnational studies. He has led study abroad programs to Germany, Austria, Ireland, France, and Belgium between 2015-2019. Teaching responsibilities include German language courses from beginner to advanced levels, European literature seminars, and honors college courses on European cultural themes.
Prof. Stefaniuk serves as German Club faculty advisor, co-organizer of the annual Seidler International Film Festival, and member of key campus committees including the Fulbright Campus Committee and PAGES Program leadership team. His scholarly work bridges cultural history with contemporary issues of identity and nationalism.
Prior roles include Honors Faculty Fellow (2018-2021) and contributions to interdisciplinary initiatives promoting inclusive campus environments.
