Tom Roberts is a Senior Lecturer in History, Philosophy and the Social Sciences at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where he has taught since 1984. His research focuses on propaganda, war, sports history, and the history of television. Prior to RISD, he served for 22 years as Executive Director of the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities (RICH).
Education: BA from College of the Holy Cross and MS from Boston University.
Research interests include cultural history, media studies, and the intersection of public humanities with education. His work spans writing, performing, producing, and leadership roles in cultural initiatives.
Awards: Lifetime Achievement Award from RICH, multiple Emmy and Grammy nominations, Academy Award recognition, and RISD's 2017 Excellence in Teaching Award. His contributions bridge academia and public cultural engagement.
