Dr. Tom Revell is a Departmental Lecturer in English Language (pre-1400) at the University of Oxford's Faculty of English Language & Literature, affiliated with Magdalen College. His research focuses on the interplay between Old English and early Middle English literature, language, and culture, combining philological methods with corpus linguistics and interdisciplinary approaches.
He holds a PhD in Old English hagiographic poetry intertextuality, supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). Current projects include applying intertextual analysis to Old English verse genres and exploring AI's impact on humanities authorship. Recent publications address generative AI in literary studies and Portuguese translations of Beowulf.
Revell previously served as a Research Assistant and Editor on the ERC-funded CLASP project. His teaching emphasizes medieval philology, textual analysis, and pre-1400 English linguistic evolution.
