Tom Halverson

Tom Halverson is a Professor and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs in The Beacom College of Computer & Cyber Sciences at Dakota State University. He has been a faculty member since 1999, previously serving as dean before returning to a faculty role. He holds a Ph.D., M.S., and B.A. from the University of Iowa and University of Minnesota-Morris, respectively.

His research interests focus on software development, smart home technologies, and student engagement through the Madison Cyber Lab’s MadLab and Success Lab. Halverson advises multiple student clubs, including the DSU Computer Club, ACM-W chapter, and Swing Dance Club, while organizing outreach and volunteer activities. His administrative work includes program development, assessment, and student recruitment.

Labs/Teams: Director of Madison Cyber Lab (MadLab and Success Lab), involved in projects like the Connected Home initiative with East River Electric and NRECA funding.
