Tom Dannenbaum is an Associate Professor of International Law at The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Tufts University, where he also serves as Co-Director of the Center for International Law & Governance and the LLM Program. He previously taught at University College London and Yale Law School. His expertise spans international criminal law, humanitarian law, use of force, and judicial ethics. He holds a PhD from Princeton University, a JD from Yale, and a BA from Stanford.
Dr. Dannenbaum’s research focuses on the law of armed conflict, aggression, and accountability. His 2018 book, *The Crime of Aggression, Humanity, and the Soldier*, explores legal and ethical dimensions of aggression. His work has been cited by the Hague Court of Appeal and the International Law Commission. He has received prestigious awards, including the ASIL International Legal Theory Scholarship Prize (2022) and the Fletcher Faculty Research Award (2022).
His recent publications address starvation as a war crime, ICC jurisdiction, and aggression. He contributes to platforms like Just Security and EJIL:Talk!. His professional activities include roles as a board member and editorial contributor to multiple legal blogs and journals.
