Tom Brown is Senior Lecturer in Film Studies at King's College London, specializing in cinematic classicism and historical representation. With a PhD and MA from University of Warwick and BA from University of Kent, his research examines spectacle in 1930s Hollywood, French cinema, and performance theory.
Monographs include Spectacle in 'Classical' Cinemas (2016) analyzing musicality in 1930s film and Breaking the Fourth Wall (2012) on direct address techniques. Recent videographic work explores Abraham Lincoln portrayals and Hollywood's Production Code era.
