Tom Bashford

Tom Bashford is an Assistant Professor in Healthcare Systems at the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge, and a Consultant Neuroanaesthetist. His work focuses on improving peri-operative care in low-income settings through systems-based approaches.

Key affiliations include the NIHR Global Health Research Group on Neurotrauma, VSO (Ethiopia, 2011–2012), the Cambridge-Yangon Trauma Intervention Project (since 2013), and the Uganda Cambridge Partnership (since 2020). He is also associated with the Cambridge Public Health initiative.

His research integrates technology and systems analysis to address health inequalities, with a focus on low-resource environments and cross-border collaborations. This aligns with broader priority areas such as Global Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and AI/Data Science in Public Health.
