About
Todd Walter is Professor of Biological and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. His research examines interactions between hydrology, ecology, and biogeochemistry, with applications in watershed engineering, ecohydrology, and environmental nanotechnology. Dr. Walter directs the Soil and Water Lab and teaches courses including Physical Hydrology, Watershed Engineering, and Ecohydrology.
Current research investigates hydrological controls on biogeochemical hotspots, nano-biotechnology applications in ecohydrological systems, and climate change impacts on water resources. Projects span urban stormwater management, agricultural nutrient transport, groundwater-surface water interactions, and microbial processes in engineered ecosystems.
Honors include multiple teaching awards from SUNY and Cornell. Publications demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches combining field measurements, laboratory experiments, and modeling to address water quality and ecosystem challenges in diverse landscapes.
