Tisa Bryant is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the University of Iowa. Her research and creative work intersect African American Studies, cultural criticism, and experimental writing. She is the author of *Unexplained Presence* (2007), exploring Black presences in media, and co-editor of *War Diaries* (2010), a Lambda Literary Award finalist addressing Black gay men’s survival narratives.
