Tina Wasserman is an Associate Teaching Professor at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, affiliated with the Department of Visual and Material Studies. Her academic appointments have spanned from Lecturer (2000-2016) to Senior Lecturer (2016-2024), culminating in her current role. She holds a PhD in Cinema Studies from New York University, an MA in Cinema Studies, and a BA in Comparative Literature from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, with additional training from the Whitney Museum Independent Studio Program.
Her research intersects moving image studies, visual culture studies, and trauma and memory studies, focusing on cinematic ontologies, avant-garde cinema, and representations of historical trauma. Her publications explore topics like digital uncanny, verticality in urban narratives, and trauma transmission through film. She has presented at international conferences including Visible Evidence and Society for Cinema and Media Studies.
