Timothy Wakefield

Dr. Timothy Wakefield serves as the Department Chair and Professor of Biology at John Brown University (JBU). He joined the faculty in 2000 and teaches courses such as Biological Sciences, Marine Biology, Human Anatomy, and Global Environmental Stewardship. His research and teaching focus on marine biology, including fieldwork in the Florida Keys during Spring Break lab trips. He also leads Marine Biology courses for the Au Sable Institute during summers.

Before JBU, Dr. Wakefield trained Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins at World's of Fun in Kansas City and worked as a professional dog trainer for four years. His expertise bridges scientific research, field experience, and interdisciplinary education emphasizing faith and science integration.
