Timothy VanDeusen

Timothy VanDeusen is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University, affiliated with the Yale School of Medicine. He serves as an Attending Psychiatrist in the Young Adult Service and Medical Director of the West Haven Mental Health Clinic. His roles also include secondary appointments in the Child Study Center and involvement in the Dean's Advisory Council for LGBTQI Affairs. Dr. VanDeusen's clinical and academic work focuses on transitional age youth psychiatry, psychopharmacology, and health equity in mental healthcare.

Education: MD from the American University of the Caribbean (1986), BS in Biology from the University of Michigan (1980). Training includes residencies at Michael Reese Hospital (1991) and a fellowship at UCLA (2013).

Research interests emphasize reducing polypharmacy in youth, improving mental health services for marginalized populations, and advancing interdisciplinary mental health care. He has contributed to initiatives like the Transitional Age Youth Psychiatry Fellowship at YNHH and deprescribing strategies for psychotropic medications.

Professional activities include leadership at the Connecticut Mental Health Center and participation in international conferences such as the ESCAP Congress. His clinical practice integrates evidence-based approaches with community-oriented care.
