Timothy R. Buckner

Timothy R. Buckner is a Professor and Associate Chair at Troy University's College of Arts and Sciences, Department of History & Philosophy. He joined the faculty in 2005 and specializes in Colonial America, The American Revolution, and the Antebellum South.

• PhD from University of Texas at Austin (2005)
• Research focuses on Black masculinity in US history and literature
• Recipient of the 2024 Jules and Frances Landry Award

His scholarly work includes co-editing Fathers, Preachers, Rebels, Men: Black Masculinity in US History and Literature 1820-1945 and authoring the award-winning monograph on William Johnson of Natchez. His research bridges historical analysis and literary interpretation to examine gendered and racialized identities in the American South.

His academic accolades include recognition from Louisiana State University Press (2023) and Ohio State University Press (2011) for editorial and author contributions.
