Timothy Osborn

Timothy Osborn is Professor of Climate Science and Director of the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia. His research identifies climate variations through instrumental records, climate models, and proxy archives to understand natural and anthropogenic causes. He co-developed key datasets including HadCRUT global temperature and CRU TS climate data.

Research interests span Northern Hemisphere temperature reconstructions, rainfall extremes, and future climate projections. Current work refines global temperature records and analyzes Asian monsoon variability.

Significant awards include the Royal Meteorological Society's Hugh Robert Mill Medal. IPCC contributions include lead authorship for AR5 and review editorship for AR6.

Teaching covers climate science fundamentals from energy budgets to modeling at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
