Timothy Nix is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Tyler, located in COB 315.12. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the United States Air Force Academy (1987-1991) and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Texas A&M University (2010-2013), with a dissertation on "Covert Communication Networks."
Dr. Nix served 25 years in the U.S. Army, including roles with the 82nd Airborne Division and 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Special Forces Qualification Course and Ranger School, with deployments to Egypt, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan.
His research focuses on cyber-security, privacy/anonymity networks, peer-to-peer systems, graph theory, and mathematical modeling. He has previously taught at the United States Military Academy and Stephen F. Austin State University.
