Timothy Lenoir is a Distinguished Professor in the Cinema and Digital Media Program and Science and Technology Studies at the University of California Davis. He holds a Ph.D. in History & Philosophy of Science from Indiana University (1974) and a B.A. in Integrated Liberal Arts from St. Mary's College (1970). His research examines the history of biomedical science and the integration of computational technologies in research, particularly computer graphics, medical visualization, virtual reality applications, and digital archives.
Lenoir's current projects include documenting the history of Silicon Valley through digital archives, a web documentary on bioinformatics history, and a historical study of interactive simulation and video games ('How They Got Game'). He collaborates with economists on regional innovation ecosystems and participates in NSF-funded research on societal implications of bionanotechnology.
