Timothy J. Shaffer is the inaugural Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Chair of Civil Discourse and Director of the SNF Ithaca Initiative at the Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration, University of Delaware. He holds joint appointments in the Department of Communication and School of Education, and serves as Senior Faculty Fellow with the Institute for Public Administration (IPA). Shaffer also directs Civic Engagement and Deliberative Democracy at the National Institute for Civil Discourse (University of Arizona) and co-directs the Deliberative Pedagogy Lab.
