Timothy J. Brown

Timothy J. Brown, Ph.D., serves as Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities and Professor of Communication Studies at Eastern University, bringing over 20 years of leadership experience across public/private and two-year/four-year institutions including Montgomery County Community College and Queens University of Charlotte.

His educational credentials include a B.A. and M.A. in Communication Studies from West Chester University and a Ph.D. in Rhetoric from Ohio University.

Dr. Brown's research centers on the intersection of culture, communication, and identity through a rhetorical lens, with significant contributions to servant-leadership theory as demonstrated in his award-winning book No One Cheers for Goliath. His scholarly work bridges academic communication studies with real-world applications in diversity initiatives and community engagement.

His honors include dual recognition from the Eastern Communication Association as both Distinguished Teaching Fellow and Distinguished Research Fellow.

Administratively, Dr. Brown has managed substantial resources including a $5 million endowment for Digital Charlotte at Queens University, co-founded West Chester University's Faculty Mentoring Program, and served as Team Leader for the National Communication Association's Learning Outcomes Project.
