Timothy J. Barreiro serves as Professor of Internal Medicine and Section Chair of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University's College of Medicine, where he also directs the St. Elizabeth Pulmonary Health & Research Center. Committed to underserved communities and diversity in medical education, he actively mentors future physicians through NEOMED's training programs.
Dr. Barreiro earned his Doctorate of Osteopathy from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed specialty training in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry. His academic journey includes early recognition as a Health Disparities Scholar by the National Institutes of Health.
His research focuses on complex pulmonary diseases through a multidisciplinary team approach, with significant contributions to understanding cultural complexities in medical decision-making and health disparities.
